TRANSFER PHOTOS TO YOUR COMPUTER

.

Do you have a camera phone? If you do, then you probably take a lot of photos with your handset. However, those great images won't be much use unless you share them with your friends or family. You can send these images to your friends and family through your cell phone provider’s network, but that usually costs money. The following are some tips on how to get your images off your mobile phone without having to incur expensive fee from your service provider.

bluetooth

Bluetooth wireless technology is one of the best options when it comes to transferring photos from a camera phone to a computer. However, you need to have a Bluetooth enabled phone paired with a similarly equipped computer, if you want to transfer photos using this wireless technology. Fortunately, most of today's camera cell phones are equipped with short-range Bluetooth wireless technology. If your laptop is not equipped with Bluetooth, you can easily purchase an inexpensive USB Bluetooth module for your PC from a local electronics retailer. Once you have successfully paired your phone to your computer, transferring photos via Bluetooth is a breeze.

Here are examples of Bluetooth enabled camera phones:

Nokia 5610 Xpressmusic
Nokia 6650
Nokia N95
Nokia 2600
Motorola Zine ZN5
Motorola ROKR E8
Motorola RAZR2 V9

Removable Memory Card Transfers

Removable memory cards are another great way to move your camera phone pictures to a computer. Many camera phones offer a slot for adding an external microSD memory card (with an adapter). All you have to do is remove the memory card from your phone and transfer the photos stored on the card to a computer using a card reader. Some laptops have the card reader built in. Otherwise you can simply add an USB card reader. However, you have to make sure your card reader supports the correct format or the removable memory card transfer will not work. Moving the photos from your device is as easy as using the "cut and paste" commands in Windows Explorer.

Here are some camera phones that offer a removable memory card slot:

Nokia N78
Nokia e65
Nokia 7310 Supernova
Motorola RAZR VE20
Motorola RAZR v3i
Motorola Q Global
LG enV2
LG Venus
LG Chocolate 3
Samsung Sway U650

USB Data Connection Kit

Using an USB data connection kit to transfer pictures from your phone to a computer is a simple cost effective method. However, this method is strictly for moving pictures to a computer so you won't be able to send your photos to your friends' handsets. The upside with using a USB data connection kit to transfer pictures is its fast transfer speed. A USB data connection kit usually includes the software that will facilitate the transfer of files to and from the phone and a cable that connects your phone into your computer's USB port.

If you want to choose this method of moving the images from your phone, then you have to get the appropriate data kit for you phone. USB data connection kits are phone specific so getting the incorrect cable may not allow you to transfer the images from your cell phone to a computer. Once you completed connecting your phone using the USB data connection kit, the transferring of images should go smoothly. It's similar to using Bluetooth except a wire or cable is involved.

Mobile Email

You can also use email to transfer photos from your mobile phone to a computer. This process requires a handset that is capable of sending email. Most modern camera phones have this ability. Now the process of sending images via email varies on the mobile phone model so the best solution is to read the instructions in the manual that comes with your handset. The key thing to remember with transferring photos from your phone to a computer via email is to place the correct email address.

This method of transferring photos from a cell phone to a computer is easy and convenient but there are also some disadvantages. Mobile phone carriers charge additional fees to customers who send pictures through email. Some carriers charge on a per-kilobyte rate for the data used while sending the picture via email and other carriers charge a flat rate. Transferring a large number of pictures from a mobile phone to a computer using mobile email could cost a pretty penney.

Here's a list of camera phones that offer mobile email:

Blackberry Curve 8300
Blackberry Pearl Flip
Blackberry Storm
Nokia e71
Nokia e61i
Motorola q9h
